Our purpose is exploring the creative process — how a new idea is born into the arts, sciences, and philosophy. There is no restriction for creative activity. Imagination has complete freedom. Supporting and promoting freedom in creativity is our mission.

Since the beginning of time, art has been an important form of human expression. It has played a critical role in creating unique cultural identities amongst civilizations. Maldivian history and culture has also been greatly enriched by the work of artists among our ancestors. With globalization and advancement of technology, the Maldivian art scene also expanded to include many different mediums in addition to the traditional folk arts of lacquer work and stone and woodcarving. This diversification opened doors for many, and today, our artists perform in broader disciplines introducing fans and enthusiasts to a wide variety of mediums and disciplines.

This expansion brought about a number of associations and organizations engaging in the important work of advocating and supporting the holistic growth of the industry. We identified the importance of a collaborative community with clear goals aimed at promoting and cultivating contemporary fine art in the country, and advocating the importance of quality art making.

And thus, Fine Art Maldives came into being. We are an art association formed by artists and art enthusiasts of Maldives aimed at growing the art community and promoting fine arts in the country, with the purpose of growing the passion artists have for art and creativity. Fine Art Maldives strives to promote the artistic growth and encourage creativity and originality. We do so by laying a sound platform that encourages and supports all artists and art communities throughout Maldives. Fine Art Maldives’ welcoming and open policy seeks to promote integrated community cultures through local community collaborations, international affiliations, and crowd-creative approaches in all its endeavors.

Our programs are designed to strengthen, develop and sustain the growth and capacity of artists in the Maldives. They will help define and establish clear industry standards for the arts, as well as aid creation of infrastructures to support our artists.

Our community is made up of many talented and passionate artists and art enthusiasts, who come together to provide a space for interaction and discussion leading to innovations and creative collaborations. We are committed to amplifying their voices and work through our platform and we are steadfast in our advocacy and support of their artistic endeavors.

Our work is dedicated towards the growth and development of the Maldivian creative community. We do this by providing support and growth opportunities, and by paving a concrete path for aspiring artists by collaborating with the governing bodies in the formulation and implementation of policies and regulations to support and protect them.
