Aishath Huda’s solo exhibition titled, “The Bird and the Flying Fish” opens at the National Art Gallery. Displaying 18 works of art created using a range of mediums from Oil, Chinese Ink to Charcoal and Pastels, the artist is able to draw the viewer in from the minute they walk into the exhibition.
“The Bird and the Flying Fish” creates a complete visual journey for the visitor. The installation art adds to the experience, allowing for heightened sensory engagement and encourages viewer participation.
Huda invites the viewer into an experience, encouraging them “to look into the painting rather than to look at it.” Instead of guiding their perception the artist seeks to allow the essence of the paintings speak for them, invoking in each viewer a unique and highly personal reaction. The artworks are visually powerful and expressive, inducing an enthralling hypnotic effect looking at the different layers and brushstrokes.
Presented in association with Avahteri Gallery, OTO Creative and The National Centre for the Arts, the exhibition will be open until the 7th of October 2019 at the National Art Gallery.
