This is an open call for Maldivian artists, regardless of gender, age or mediums to submit an application of interest to participate in our first and annual Fine Art Maldives group exhibition. The exhibition will be curated by a guest curator invited by Fine Art Maldives.

Artists for the exhibition will be selected by the exhibition curator and selected artists will work with the curator to produce a themed exhibition which will open in July, 2020.

We are an art association formed by artists and art enthusiasts of Maldives aimed at growing the art community and promoting fine arts in the country, with the purpose of growing the passion artists have for art and creativity. Fine Art Maldives strives to promote artistic growth and encourage creativity and originality. We do so by laying a sound platform that encourages and supports all artists and art communities throughout Maldives. Fine Art Maldives’ welcoming and open policy seeks to promote integrated community cultures through local community collaborations, international affiliations, and crowd-creative approaches in all its endeavors.

Umair has years of experience working in the creative industry. He has professional curatorial experience in fine art, photography and cultural historical exhibitions since 2009.

Over the years he has curated a number of exhibitions, including Still life with Rightasaurus in 2011 for Unicef, War Games: David Levinthal, 2013 at the Corcoran Gallery of Art at Washington, D.C and In Negotiation with Landlord, 2016 for Transparency Maldives. The themes in his recent exhibitions have ranged from human rights to environment and art in Maldives.
