Maldivian Artist Community (MAC) has elected their board members for the 2nd term (2019 – 2022). The application process was opened to all members of the association. The board members were elected in the general meeting and are as follows:
Maimoona (Maena) as Vice Chair, Hussain Ihfal (Iphpha) as General Secretary, Ahmed Shaffan (ShaffOceans) as Chair, Ali Rishwan (Cartman) as Treasurer, Ali Amir for Public Relations, Musthafa Mohamed as Creative Director and Ahmed Azmee (Baachy) as Program Coordinator.
MAC was founded in 2016 and has been active ever since. With an aim to promote local artists in the country by offering them platforms to showcase their work, MAC has hosted 70 solo and 9 group exhibitions so far.
The association hopes to increase their activities within the upcoming 3 years. They have a number of activities planned, with their focus being on events and exhibitions in resorts, arranging workshops with professional artists from abroad as well as within the community in addition to continuing to provide a platform and exposure to new comers to the industry.
