Unveiling Visions 2019, the 3rd annual contemporary art exhibition organised by the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC) closed yesterday. A major success, the exhibition was open for public viewing from 4th to 8th of August 2019.
The exhibition this year was visited by both the President of Maldives His Excellency, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the First Lady, Fazna Ahmed and the Vice President of Maldives, Faisal Naseem. A number of cabinet members and high profile government members also visited the exhibition. Amongst them were the Speaker of the Peoples Majlis and Former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed and Former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
The exhibition which went on for 5 days had visits from students studying art and design from Dharumavantha School, Ahmadhiyya International School, Jamaluddin School, Aminiya School and Hiriyaa School.
Art educators and artists gave inspiring and informative talks during the daily Tonight ART Talk segment of the exhibition. These included talks by art educators Sidhartha Sankar Borah, K. S. S. Vara Prasad, Ali Amir and artists Ahmed Naseem, Hussain Afeef, Ahmed Afazil, Ali Shimhaq, Mohamed Razzan and a sketch book viewing and art talk by Afzal Shafiu. Live painting sessions went on through the exhibition.
According to the organisers of the exhibition, MAC, the engagement and support received from the general public as well as the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage and the National Centre for the Arts was exceedingly higher than the previous years.
