SOULSCAPES, the 1st photo exhibition by GMB Akash in the Maldives, is a major success

SOULSCAPES by the eminent photojournalist and humanitarian GMB Akash concluded last night. The exhibition that went on for 3 days proved to be a huge success with droves of people attending. Many of the attendees were long time followers of GMB Akash in the Maldives. They had the opportunity to experience this impactful exhibition, see a selection of some of his most powerful photos in print and meet the photographer himself.

On display were a selection of 55 photographs from 11 different projects that he carried out in 5 different countries through the span of his career of over 25 years. Each project looked into a social issue, not typically represented in media. These 11 projects dealt with issues such as the prevalence of child labour in Bangladesh, the stigma of mental illness, the plight of refugees- both fleeing from war torn countries and those forced out of their homes by natural disasters. The powerful images included in the exhibition conveyed a strong message that stir the conscience and encourage a more empathetic and compassionate perspective and mannerism when interacting with each other.

SOULSCAPES photo exhibition was the first exhibition by the well known photographer in the Maldives. It was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Arts Culture and Heritage and was organized by Fine Art Maldives in association with National Centre for the Arts. The main event partner for this exhibition was Orca Media Group, with MVPlus being the media partner, PrintLab being the print partner and Lotus Bike Shop as the sponsor.
