Maldives has been invited by the Secretariat of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to hold the Artist Camp and Exhibition of Paintings 2019. This will be the second time that the event will take place in the Maldives. Previously Maldives hosted the Artist Camp and Exhibition of Paintings in 2013. The Artist Camp was held at Kuda Bandos and the Exhibition of Paintings took place in the National Art Gallery.
Organised by the SAARC Cultural Centre, the event seeks to promote regional unity while showcasing the rich and diverse culture of the region. It plays an intrinsic role in promoting relations and understanding within the region, using art as the medium. Artists from member states get the opportunity to showcase their work and become part of a creative forum between the artists in the region.
The last Artist Camp and Painting Exhibition was hosted by Sri Lanka earlier this year. It brought together artists from all member states and provided a platform for artists to share their knowledge and improve their creative talents.
The event is to set to take place in the Maldives from the 22nd to 27th of September 2019.
